The season has come to an end for the Jackson County boys’ track and field team.
While the team finished sixth, behind overall winner Elbert County, Oconee County, Eastside, Hart County and Franklin County, no Panthers placed higher than third in the meet.
To qualify for state, an athlete must finish in at least second place in their individual event.

JCCHS comes home sixth from region meet
The Panthers did have several placers during the meet.
D.J. Ledford placed third in the 3200-meters. Josh Spanks placed third in the discus. Charles Smothers placed fourth in the long jump and seventh in the 100-meters. Zane Cochran finished sixth in the 200-meters. Nick Beaver placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. Jonathan Baxter placed fourth in the discus. The 4x100 team placed fourth in their event.
Now attention goes to the girls’ region meet, which gets underway Saturday at JCCHS.
