The Jefferson tennis teams can add the words “region champs” to their name after both the boys and girls teams swept North Oconee last week to take the 8-AA title.
The region tournament started for the boys with the semi-final round against Fannin County, which they won 3-0.
Zach Bost won at number one singles 6-3, 6-0. Blair Buffington won at number two singles 6-0, 6-0. Sky Porter won at number three singles 6-0, 6-0.
The Jefferson Lady Dragons defeated North Oconee to become the region 8-AA champs.
JHS netters score region titles
The girls faced Banks County in their semi-final round, winning 3-1.
Jessica Johnson won at number two singles 6-0, 6-0. Callie Holloway won at number three singles 6-0, 6-1. Ashley Etchison and Colby Fowler won at number one doubles 6-2, 3-1. Kristine Chambers and Mariah Yates won at number two doubles 6-0, 6-0.
In the finals, the boys defeated North Oconee 3-0.
