Jackson County Parks and Rec faced off against Jefferson Parks and Rec this past week in the Dizzy Dean baseball tournament.
The Dizzy Dean District 6 tournament attracts a lot of attention from area park and rec departments. With many different age groups competing in the tournament, both local rec departments have had a number of teams play well.
The Jefferson Park and Rec team won the 10-year-old Dizzy Dean baseball tournamnet and will be advancing to the state tournamnet this weekend.

However, this past week, the 10-year-old teams were the ones in the spot light as the undefeated Jefferson Dragons’ team faced the Jackson County Force. The teams were part of the 12-team field all competing in the tournament.
The second place winning Jackson County Force is coached by Jay Latty, Steve Ellis, David Fogarty and Jerry Bowen.
The teams were competing for the chance to head to the “A” State Tournament this holiday weekend in Chatsworth.
While both teams played good ball, the Dragons brought home the victory. Doug Husley, Mark Thompson, Jon Ray and Brian Clark coach the Jefferson team.
