WBHS athletes battle conditions

Runner-up finishes for the WBHS girls included DeIsha Treadwell in the 100-meter dash and Jaleisa Jackson in the 100-meter hurdles. Crystal Chukworah was second in the 300-meter hurdles with the 4x200-yard relay team of Bre Deal, Lauren Geiger, Kayla Hendrix and Brittany Witt finishing as runner-up.

The Lady Bulldoggs, coached by Jennifer Blevins, also finished second in the distance medley. Marie Lyle, Melissa Sommer, Cope and Kelsey Easterling comprised the distance medley team and ran the finals in 14:56.

In the field events, Delorean Itabiyi, a freshman, was second in the discus with a throw of 92-05.

Two WBHS boys earned first-place finishes Saturday as Rozzie Johnson was the winner in the 100-meter dash (12.49) and Reggie Riley was the winner in the triple jump (39-2.5).

John Siggers was second for WBHS coach Sam Stovall in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.24, just behind first-place winner Tollis Scott of Monroe Area who finished in 46.02.

The Bulldogg sprint medley team of Brad Bush, Orlando McWhorter, Siggers and Johnson was second in 1:44.

Finishing third for WBHS at Saturday’s event were:

•Siggers, 400-meter dash, 59.75

•Josh Timms, 1,600-meter run, 5:08.

•4x100-meter relay team of Johnson, Erin Hendricks, Shakeel Medlock and Riley, 46.37.

•Jamonte Riden, long jump, 19-6.

•Henry Maxey, triple jump, 38-9.5.
