Eagles Pick Up First Region Win Of ‘09

Thursday marked the first region pairing for East Jackson, as the Eagles traveled to Lexington to face the Patriots.

East Jackson came away with a big 13-4 victory to start its region schedule off in a big way.

Sam Williamson recorded the win from the mound, throwing a complete game that saw him strike out 10.

Williamson also led the offense with four hits, while Hunter Beck, Caleb Hardy and Luke David had two each. Nick Keyros hit his first home run of the year, as the Eagles had 17 hits on the night.

“We got off on the right foot,” said coach Josh Gandy. “The kids played well. They came, they made all their plays and did all the little things right. Sam threw the ball well, and our defense made all the plays.”

Oconee County

The Eagles didn’t have much time to celebrate their first win of the year, as they had to travel to Watkinsville to face Oconee County.

The Warriors entered Friday’s match-up with a 3-1 overall record. They added one more check in the win column by the end of the day, as they defeated East Jackson 7-1.
