JCCHS wins Panther Invitational

After a slow start, the Jackson County soccer teams ended the week strong with wins in the Panther Invitational on Saturday.

The week started with a home stand last Tuesday against Eastside. For the girls, the game ended with a 7-0 loss.

The score was a little better for the boys’ team, who lost 5-2 to the 6-2 Eagles.

Things got better on Thursday, when Jackson County hosted Monroe.

The girls’ team came away with a 3-1 win, with Lexie Miller scoring two goals while Katie Rodriguez scored one.

The boys’ game ended with a 3-3 tie, the first for Jackson County this season.

On Saturday, Jackson County was host of the Panther Invitational, hosting the boys and girls teams of Pickens County and Gilmer County.

The girls first defeated Pickens County 4-0, with goals by Mary Collin, Lexi Miller, Janette Gee and Katie Rodriquez.

They then went on to face Gilmer County in the championship game, coming away with a 4-1 victory.

For the boys, they first defeated Gilmer County 1-0 to move to the championship match. There, they defeated Pickens County 3-2 to take the invitational title.
