Chalk up two more wins for Lord’s Diamond Leopards.
Banks County’s varsity Leopards added two more notches after climbing out of early deficits against Elbert County and Commerce last week.
With region competition starting tomorrow (Thursday), Banks’ coach Joe Lord knows that at the plate the Leopards are going to have to step it up bringing in the runners.
“We have to do a better job of driving in runs,” Lord said. “We feel like we have the ability to come back if our pitching and defense keeps it pretty close.”
First up on the region schedule for the Diamond Leopards is Jefferson.
Both teams are 3-1 currently, and both teams are allowing an average of 6 runs per game. On paper, Banks has the advantage scoring nine runs per game compared to Jefferson’s eight.
It will come down to whichever team can get the bats swinging. The Leopards versus Jefferson game starts at 5:30 p.m. in Homer.
