Winning area championships is getting to be the norm for the Apalachee High School weight lifting team.
AHS dominated Saturday’s event easily outdistancing second-place Eastside 112-39. The Wildcat team had several first-place finishes in several weight classes.
“We had a couple of guys who didn’t do as well as we thought they would, but for the most part, everyone was where we need them to be,” said coach Shane Davis. “Most everyone made the necessary lifts to help earn us the championship. We were proud of the showing.”
Up next for AHS is the state weight lifting weight scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at the Perry Ag Center.
Overall at area, the Wildcat strength team had 17 athletes score points and earned six first-place finishes in 10 weight classes.
