Though winter weather has wiped out classes for three days, Madison County High School’s state tournament showdown with defending state champion Southwest DeKalb will continue as planned.
The Lady Raiders (24-5) host Southwest Dekalb (25-4) tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the second round of the girls’ Class AAAA state tournament.
The winner advances to the state quarterfinals Friday to face either Northwest Whitfield or Mays at the University of West Georgia.
Southwest DeKalb, 31-2 last year, earned a no. 2 seed for this year’s state tournament, losing to Marist 64-46 in the Region 6-AAAA finals.
The Lady Panthers then downed Douglas County 64-61 Friday in the opening round of the state tournament.
Madison County beat Hillgrove 74-66 that same night, behind 38 points from Courtney Freeman.
The Lady Raiders have won 13 straight games.
