Team completes perfect regular season with win






Madison County cruised to another win last week and finished another regular season unscathed.

The rifle Raiders beat Aquinas 1,125-1,094 at Augusta’s Pinetucky Gun Club last Tuesday to finish the regular season at 6-0.

Madison County shoots at the area meet on March 3.

Wade Threlkeld led the effort with a 288, followed by Casey Brown (284), Nathan Coker (279) and Jacob Holliman (274). J.S. Fielding’s score (268) was dropped.

Madison County was scheduled to shoot against Westside (Augusta) Tuesday, but the Patriots forfeited.

Now, Madison County’s sights are on area — and beyond.
The March 9-13 state sectionals match follows area competition.

A state semifinal has been added this year. Only the 12 winning teams and two top-scoring losing teams will advance to state.

The state match is April 4 at Fort Benning.

Wade Threlkeld and Casey Brown have already qualified as individual competitors by shooting a 290 during the year.
