Seven Mat Panthers qualified to go to State competition this weekend during the sectional tournament held at Eagles Landing High School. Eleven Jackson County grapplers had the opportunity to make the cut, with the top eight placers in each weight class going to state.
Ryan Howe had the best performance for Jackson County, placing first in the 189 lb. category. Howe faced Tommy Williams on Eastside for the second week in a row to win the sectional title.
“It is a good possibility that Howe could meet Williams in the State Finals this upcoming weekend for the fourth time this season,” said coach Jason Powers.
